Where are you and I?@@The art exhibition gThe New World Mapsh
The galaxy, the globe, the nation, XX prefecture, XX district, and XX townc
In todayfs society, every place is segmented and named, and each of us
lives in such an allocated piece of the world. Meanwhile, as the
popularization of the Internet enabled direct and on-line
communications between countries that are geographically far-distant,
transmission and transportation that does not require gmaterialh
movement is now realized across the universe, and you probably think
itfs nothing unusual. And this is where the question arises:
Experiencing such drastic social change, now donft we see any
discrepancies in grasping the relationship between gpeople and placesh
with the viewpoint of limited elements such as nations and regions?
With our conventional idea of gpeople and placesh, we have taken
passive approach to our way of living within an allocated area,
regarding the existence of the world, nations and hometowns as
something unchangeable. With the theme of the New World Maps, this
exhibition proposes the new interpretation of our involvement with the
world, based on our unique and various experiences and methodologies.
Featuring world recognized artists from abroad and young and active
artists from home, the New World Maps project will bring each of you
the opportunity of discovering your own maps to see the new world.
